Posadas is the capital city of the province of Misiones, located on the left bank of the Paraná River, in the southwest of the province. It is the most populated city in Misiones, its administrative, commercial and cultural centre, and one of the most active and growing cities in the region.

The San Roque González de Santa Cruz bridge, built over the Paraná River, connects it to the city of Encarnación, in the Republic of Paraguay.

Posadas is considered as a gateway to the missions and the jungle, and fundamentally as a cultural centre of excellence: art, music, literature, popular manifestations and religious beliefs, are combined in a city that offers the visitor walks along its wide waterfront, a wide gastronomic offer, hotels and entertainment.

The Bajada Vieja, a historical place where the early port activity was forged, the Botanical Garden, the Convention and Events Centre, the City Park, the República del Paraguay Park, the Manuel Antonio Ramírez Municipal Amphitheatre, the Cathedral, the “La Placita” Market (in Roque Sáenz Peña Avenue), the Bridge Market, the Government House, the 9 de Julio Square, the San Martín Square and the Bosetti Promenade (with its handicraft fair), among others, are its emblematic places.

A variety of museums with historical exhibitions of Misiones and the Jesuits’ passage through these lands, plus some theatres and the Knowledge Centre complete the cultural offer. You can also enjoy the nightlife of the city, in its varied bars, restaurants, pubs, discos and casino.

Besides, all kinds of nautical activities are practised in the waters of the Parana, such as canoeing, boat rides, jet skiing and fishing. The Isla del Medio is another of its attractions, with scheduled boat trips to enjoy the sun, the green and its beaches.
